last days of november

Pictures by Mattias Swenson

NOVEMBER. Here we are, in the last days of November. It’s getting darker by the day and I can no longer shoot outfit pictures after 2.30pm, simply because the light is already gone by then. But besides a storm this weekend, the weather these past couple of days has been amazing. Cold? Definitely. But not that horrible cold that feels like it goes underneath your clothes and turns your body to ice, more the crisp kind of cold with sunshine and blue skies, and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it.

This faux fur is another one of those totally impractical pieces that I seem to be so fond of . Don’t get me wrong, it’s absolutely beautiful, but it’s artificial mane doesn’t stand a chance against cold weather. Last time I wore it was probably during NY fashion week last february and as I recall it, I almost froze my butt off (as brilliantly captured here by Gordon von Steiner for GQ ) But it’s simply too much fun to play around with this jacket to choose function over fashion. And besides, I feel like wearing it automatically makes you entitled to unlimited amounts of hot chocolate to keep you from going into hypothermia ;)

Honestly, what is it with us girls and making sacrifices in the name of fashion?

  1. I love this outfit. The jackets perfect for a night out when you get a taxi there and home, no need to worry about being cold then!

  2. maybe if you’d wear a sweather under the jacket things would turn out to be better ;)

  3. Those jeans are just the most perfect shade of burgandy! I swear they were much paler when I saw them in my Topshop though, hopefully they were a different colour & these will come in soon!

  4. I’m loving the last photo especially. I feel your pain with the lack of light. We have until about 3.15 here before it’s too dark to get a decent shot. I’ve to do all my shoots at 8am, which is not fun getting up for.
    Loving the blog, as always.

  9. Like ur hat, was looking for something like this for a long time. And about your thoughts there is a saying in Russian: beauty demands on sacrifices, apparantly we all girls always follow it=))

  10. WOW, it’s so classic chic and elegance. I love your look with the faux fur and why do girls do such things in the name of fashion? because, we need to we need it and it’s what makes us women. I would love it if you checked out my blog, I have interesting fashion posts you might love to read.

The faux fur thingie is adorable and I would love one myself :)
I have the feeling the winter passes very quickly this year. I hope it will go on like this and also, that the snow stays away… I love snow but it is so impractical for everyday life.
