LA. On friday I’m going to LA for a photoshoot and have absolutely no clue what to pack! Not sure how much time I will have to check out the city, but if you have any suggestions on awesome places to eat or cute vintage/thrift stores, please share!!
This picture is amazing!!!

I just moved back to nyc from los angeles…I love Polkadots and Moonbeams and Decades II for vintage. Check out my post on my “LA Faves” for other stores…have a great time http://www.girlonsycamore.com/my-outfit/la-faves
IN LOVE with that dress & your red lipstick, great combo!

You must, must, muuuuust check out the vintage stores on Melrose, most especially Wasteland, but there are tons of vintage stores sporadically sprinkled throughout the avenue (Jet Rag, American Rag, Buffalo Exchange). But there are cheaper alternates that are charity-based, I suggest Out of the Closet in West Hollywood. But for the true LA experience, browse around the Fashion District, visit The Grove or Americana (outdoor malls – perhaps spot a celebrity?) – which is wonderfully romantic in all it’s festive beauty for the holidays – but make sure you find legit directions before attempting a visit to any of these places, LA is an immensely large place that you can easily lose yourself without years of experience!
As to where to eat, there is nothing particularly delicious or memorable (at least in my opinion) unless you pay and arm and a leg. At The Grove (which I highly, highly suggest) there is a Farmer’s Market with tons of delicious mini restaurants, a food lovers dream! You definitely must try a crepe and warm tomato bisque at The French Crepe Company. But since you are in California, you can’t leave here without sampling a mouth-watering burger via In-n-Out! Look up the secret menu on the internet from extended delicious-ness
I’m sorry you had to visit in the middle of December – it’s always shining here in SoCal, but right now it’s getting a bit chilly! Have fun in sunny LA and I sincerely hope this is of help to you!
xx Regards,
Gaby

Absolutley eat & shop on the eastside…Silverlake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, downtown…one of my fave thrifting spots is Squaresville on Vermont in Los Feliz, also next to it is the best little French cafe, Figaro! Enjoy your time here in lala!
Cheers!

Loving that ponytail and the single earring!

For shopping go to Wasteland(!!!!!), Resurrection, American Rag, Decades, Confederacy, Fred Segal Beauty. The vintage in Los Angeles is the best in the world. I bought a Margiela and a Chanel top this weekend at Wasteland for less than $100.
For eating go to Bottega Louie, anywhere on Sawtelle Blvd between Olympic and La Grange, Sushi Nozawa, the Kitsuya in Studio City, Square One, Intelligentsia, Tacos Por Favor, Bourbon Street Cafe, Real Food Daily.
Please don’t go to the Grove or Americana and discredit your Los Angeles followers forever. The weather is really nice this week. Not too hot or too cold.
Fairfax flee market on Melrose. I think it’s only on Sundays. Amazing finds if you’re willing to go on a treasure hunt :)
love the alexander wang!

am loving the look on your face!! have fun at the photoshoot!! http://fashionablenotebook.blogspot.com/

love the jacket!
You should definitely check out Los Feliz and Silverlake. Theres a couple of great vintage stores speckeled around Los Feliz. Take a walk down Hillhurst and Vermont and check everything out… Squaresville, OOU, the awesome art supplies store Blue Rooster. Theres great little restuarants as well.. nico nico sushi and figaro cafe. In silverlake you should definitely pop into Intelligencia for some coffee. And don’t forget to go to the observatory for the most amazing view EVER!
Waistland is a must if you haven’t been, Cross Roads (lower prices than Waistland & random finds), Out of the Closet, and Jet Rag. Food depends on what part you are staying in, but yumminess wouldn’t be hard to find. xoxox
Koi. eat at Koi. it’s so good! wasteland is good for vintage.
so is this… blackpyramidshop.com
Absolutely love this photo of you!
a previous comment already stated some of the obvious such as the grove, the americana, and the fashion district. but they forget to mention shopping at old town pasadena. its blocks and blocks of shopping. and walking further down there is an open shopping mall like the americana. & if you wanna do some touristy stuff and see amazing christmas decorations checkout rodeo. oh, close by there is the 3rd street promenade @ santa monica. california’s winter is nothing under 60 degrees. thought it might be chilly at night. there is so many shopping opportunities around here. plus, don’t forget to check out our local flea markets!
if you’d like to know more just email me at purple_elephantss (at) yahoo.com or visit my blog purple-elephantss.blogspot.com
Being an LA native, I highly recommend American Rag Cie.! They have gorgeous vintage clothing, and Golyester down the street does as well. American Rag has a super cute cafe attached to it. If you have a sweet tooth and are in downtown LA, check out Syrup (my latest obsession). Their crepes and waffles are simply to die for!
Have fun over here!
Your clothes are fantastic, and that red lipstick looks so good on you.

For the best kept secret in LA-the most amazing vintage store, Shareen Vintage, located in downtown LA in the middle of NOWHERE (you’ll need a GPS to find it, see http://www.shareenvintage.com for the address)-tons of stylists go there all the time to find dresses and outfits for their celebrity clients, they come all the way out there because they know they will always find gold there. Shareen is an amazing designer and she has her own line of incredible clothing, but she mainly reworks vintage pieces-every piece is vintage and one of a kind, but she will tweak it, shorten it, have it taken in, etc. The place is vintage heaven because every piece is wearable, and the items are only made for skinny girls (sizes 0-4 mainly), so everything will fit you…
Have fun ;)
never been to LA, have fun!! Love this outfit too!

If you’re going to be here on a Sunday, go to the flea market in the high school parking lot on the intersection of Fairfax and Melrose. Furs, sequins, weird furniture, handmade jewelry, five dollar necklaces, food, great location, street style photographers….it’s the best. I never leave empty-handed. Like everybody else said, walking down Melrose is the best vintage shopping in LA. So many stores in such a small space. Also, Jet Rag on La Brea is amazing, HUGE, and cheap. On Sunday mornings they have a $1 sale in the parking lot…lots of odd little treasures!!
For food, Cafe Tropical in Silver Lake is one of my favorites. Or Bourgeois Pig in Hollywood is always good (I think it’s on Franklin). Bottega Louie downtown is a great spot to be seen on a weekend night and never fails for delicious macarons and portobello fries.
It’s been warm here lately too, like 80ish in the daytime, but the nights get chilly so layers are always good! Or if you’re like me..wear fur coats even though the weather doesn’t really call for it ;)

Also, i LOVE your blog. we share the same affinity for 70’s style: long skirts, high heels, velvet, vintage, and fur…that’s the way to do it
ã™ã”ãç´ æ•µã§ã™!!
Ooh have fun in LA! I just remember the vintage shops were great, but I see some of the comments above has already mentioned them :) Enjoy!
I love your style and your outfit.
You Rock!
I love your outfit and you look so pretty!!! all the comments about where to go in LA, definitely printing it out, hopefully will go there again someday

Eat at: Pizzeria Mozza at Highland/Melrose, 8oz (gourmet burger bar) on Melrose near Fairfax, Loteria (Regional Mexican) on Hollywood Blvd., and get a sandwich from Larchmont Wine and Cheese on Larchmont Blvd. in Hancock Park (near Hollywood). If you’re in Little Tokyo at all, try Tofu Village (great Korean BBQ) and Shabu Shabu Yo, near Tokyo Village Plaza, which is also a great place to shop for strange Japanese imports.
Shop at: The Way We Wore on LaBrea, Catwalk on Fairfax, and Shareen Vintage downtown (you have to make an appointment). If you’re downtown at Shareen you should also check out the ENOURMOUS Goodwill and St. Vincent dePaul Society store about 2 blocks away, both treasure troves. In Malibu there’s Planet Blue at the Malibu Lumber Yard, which is also a nice way to spend the day (hiking around the Santa Monica Mountains).
Have fun and take lots of pictures!

And you absolutely hands down have to go the Bottega Louie, its is THE BEST new restaurant!!!! It’s Downtown by the Art and Fashion district – http://www.bottegalouie.com/

Hej snygging!
You look amazing!

Jet Rag Sunday dollar sale – a lt of digging, everything is a dollar and you can make great finds.
Side note: Santee Alley is an experience and intereting cheap and cheerful items can be found. It is by no means glamouois, but can be a fun fashion moment. It is a place to use your creativity and discerning eye.
Yelp is a good resource for addresses and ratings.
If you have driving access and since you will have missed the Rose Bowl Flea market you can try the Long Beach Flea market this Sunday. http://www.longbeachantiquemarket.com/

AND if you can make it down to Venice there are a ton of cool shops on Abbot Kinney!
