How to: Mixed Dining Room Chairs

Fritz Hansen Grand Prix chairs

Why hello there 2016, and hello all of you! I took a little break from the blog over Christmas to spend some time with my family, stock up on inspiration and finish decorating my apartment. So, today I thought I’d share a little sneak peek of my dining area, or more importantly, my new gorgeous chairs!

I have dreamt about these Fritz Hansen chairs for ages and when we bought our new apartment, they were the first thing I ordered. The delivery time for these beauties was quite long (about 8 weeks) but let me tell you, they were well worth the wait. I went back and forth with the color choice but finally decided to mix it up a bit and ordered them in white, black and grey and I absolutely love the result!

Mixing chairs is a fun & easy way to spice up your dining area, but to pull it off, consistency is key. Always make sure the chairs have one element in common – shape, hue or material. If you’re mixing chairs with completely different shapes, stick to one color or material to keep the look harmonious. Or, do like me and go for chairs in the same style but pick a different color for each chair to add some drama!

Let there be light

Carolina Engman's Stockholm Apartment

Flos IC lights F1 brass lampFall has arrived with full force in Stockholm and it’s already starting to get pretty dark outside. As you might know, we don’t exactly get a lot of sunshine during this time of the year here in Scandinavia and good lighting is crucial to survive the long, dark winters.

Personally, I prefer to decorate with lots of different light sources (instead of using a single bright ceiling lamp) to make the room feel more alive. A couple of weeks ago we ordered this gorgeous FLOS lamp from Länna Möbler that has been on my wish list for ages. It has a soft warm light and a dimmer which is perfect for creating a cozy mood on crisp winter nights. Today the lamp finally arrived and let me tell you, it’s even more gorgeous in person! I can’t wait to snuggle up with a book & a glass of wine in my new favorite corner. Bring it on winter, I’m ready for you!

P.S. A little tip, Länna Möbler currently offers 10% discount on everything online + in store so if you’re looking to buy some new things for your home, now is the time! The offer expires on Sunday, October 18th.
