A Midsummer night’s dream..

DREAMY. Midsummer is by far my favorite holiday, nothing really beats spending time outside with the people you love when Sweden is at its most beautiful! One sweet, old Midsummer tradition that I remember loving when I was younger is to pick a bouquet of seven different flowers that you put under your pillow before going to bed in hopes of dreaming about the person you will marry.

So, late in the evening we headed out to a meadow in search for blossoms and ended up getting about one million mosquito bites while walking in the high grass. As we strolled home with our flowers in the bright night, the sky opened up and a light summer rain started to fall over us. While the birds took cover under the trees, a majestic deer suddenly appeared from the forrest, and I stopped and closed my eyes to take in this beautiful moment to it’s fullest.

In the old days, Midsummer was believed to be one of the times of the year when magic was strongest. I still believe it is.

  2. I live in Denmark and I love visiting Sweden, but we do not have a tradition even close to Midsummer (we celebrated Sankt Hans last thursday..you burn a homemade witch on the bonfire and everybody watch it….I really don’t get it and therefore I don’t celebrate. The weirdest thing was something my friend told me one of the adults attending their Sankt Hans said: “this tradition is a sign of a good community and a good future…..WTF! You burn a doll-witch, what does that have to do with anything positive? Shouldn’t we be celebrating the fact that we don’t burn witches anymore???? anywaaaayyy)
I love the tradition you guys have about making a bouquet out of 7 different flowers and lay it under your pillow in the hope that you will dream about the man you will marry.
ps. Your eyes on these pictures really looks like a childs. You can see in your eyes, that this is something that brings you childhood memories, and that makes this one of my favourite posts you have ever made!<3

  8. It’s not related with the post but I’m curious from long time. How do you wear high heels every day? Don’t they hurt you? Do you use some pads or insoles or… I don’t know! I want to wear heels more often but I feel terrible pain.

  9. You are right, these pics truly convey the magic… *-* For a second, I really caught a glimpse of Alice (from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland), Peter (Pan) and Anne (of Green Gables)… :) I hope you had as much fun as you looked pretty! ;)
